On April 16, 2026, Berlin Middle High School celebrated the outstanding academic achievements of the Class of 2026’s top 10 students with a dessert reception. This year, 12 students were recognized, with two students graduating early whose averages tied for sixth and eighth places. The event was hosted by Principal Mr. David Bernsley, Counselor Ms. Savanna Caldwell, and Assistant Principal Mrs. Meghan Reynolds.

Along with the Mountaineers, their families, and friends, the event was attended by BCSD Superintendent Mr. Ken Rizzo, Berlin elementary, middle, and high school staff, and Board of Education President Mrs. Katie Murray. The evening featured video interviews with each of the students, a playlist curated by the students, and a celebratory atmosphere with seniors, their families, and BCSD staff as the students set off to take on the last weeks of their education journey at Berlin Central School District. Congratulations to the honored students, whose achievements are a testament to their hard work and dedication.

This year’s top 10 are: Lillian vonSchilgen (Valedictorian), Valentina Popov (Salutatorian), Anthony deLaurentis (3), Mackenzie Lowell (4), Charlie Young (5), Penelope Haas (6), Anna Ward (6), Cameron Van Dyk (7), Alicia Minkler (8)(missing from photo), Elliot Smith (8), Norah Smerdon (9), and Tamaz Devine (10).
