This season has tested our team in ways that don’t always show up in the win column. It has been a tough season, filled with challenges and adversity. However, through it all, our seniors have shown a very young Varsity team what it truly means to lead, to persevere, and to exhibit good sportsmanship.
Last Monday, we recognized two individuals who embodied resilience and led by example every single day of the season.
Taygen Berry’s journey is a true testament to dedication. Like many Varsity athletes, his early years didn’t come with much playing time, but he never let that define him. Instead, he put his head down, worked, improved, and stayed committed to the game he loves. That persistence paid off, earning him a starting role in his senior year. Taygen’s passion, determination, and quiet resilience made him someone his teammates and coaches are incredibly proud of. Off the field, his hard work continues. He recently passed his EMT exam with the Hoosick Rescue Squad, and has plans to attend college for nursing.
As one of our captains, Jack Mace set the standard for what leadership looks like. He led with consistency, respect, and a team-first mindset, always supporting those around him and setting the tone both on and off the field. Jack’s impact was felt everywhere: at the plate, in the field, and on the mound. He always gives 100% regardless of which position he plays. His grit, hustle, and unwavering commitment earned the respect of everyone in our program. Beyond baseball, Jack is preparing for his next chapter and has plans to enter the workforce. -Coach Gardell and Coach Hastings
