Effectively advocating for school budgets in New York State can be done in a few different ways including local engagement and state-level lobbying, with a focus on ensuring equity, adequacy, and transparency. Participating in school board meetings, casting informed votes on budget proposals, engaging with state representatives regarding Foundation Aid, and collaborating with advocacy groups, such as New York State School Boards Association NYSSBA (https://www.votervoice.net/NYSSBA/Home), at the New York State Congress of Parents and Teachers, Inc. NYS PTA (https://nyspta.org/home/advocacy/advocacy_tools/advocacy-guide/ ) to advocate for sufficient funding allocations.
