This month in the Superintendent’s Corner, Mr. Rizzo shines a light on the BCSD Transportation Department, the unsung heroes working behind the scenes to ensure students’ safety and well-being to and from school, and providing countless opportunities for students to receive out-of-district services, join clubs after school, compete in academic and sporting competitions, and engage in learning opportunities on field trips, among other things.
During budget season, it is common to find bus propositions on the ballot to ensure student safety through a reliable fleet, manage aging vehicles, and secure state aid reimbursement. These votes allow districts to replace older, high-maintenance buses and spread costs over time. Thank you to the community for voting for the bus propositions last budget season, continuing a commitment to student safety.
A few weeks ago, the district took ownership of the two new buses voted for by the community last budget season. The students were buzzing about the new buses and excited to find out when they would get to ride one. So, we thought it would be fun to take the community along for a ride with BCSD Administrators to find out what all the excitement was about.
Thank you to Jeannette Alderman, Transportation Supervisor, Mr. Rick Wagar, Head Mechanic, and the entire BCSD Transportation Department for their dedication to our Mountaineer community.
