Good Evening,

Thank you to the Mountaineer Community for your engagement in the lead-up to tonight’s Proposed Capital Project Referendum, with a total budget of $9,450,000 and a 75.4% NYSED Building Aid Ratio. Despite widespread power outages to start the day, the community came out in record numbers with 550 total votes cast. The Board of Education thanks the residents of the district for your civic engagement throughout the pre-referendum process.

The proposed 2026 Berlin CSD Capital Project Proposition #1 – Critical Infrastructure with the budget of $6,350,000 and the use of $1,045,523 Capital Reserves applied and an estimated impact of a tax levy of 0.575% was failed by the voters this evening with the result of 392 No votes and 157 Yes votes.

The proposed 2026 Berlin CSD Capital Project Proposition #2 – Additional Priorities with a budget of $3,100,000 and an estimated impact of a tax levy of 0.784% failed with 381 No votes and 169 Yes votes.  

The strong voter turnout and the outcome of today’s vote represent the voice of the community on behalf of every student.  Thank you to everyone who came out to cast their vote.
