Dear Mountaineer Students and Families:
This afternoon, the Berlin Central School District received a report of an alleged threat made by a student against the MS/HS on Monday, March 16. The District immediately contacted the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the matter. The Sheriff’s Office has completed its investigation and determined the allegation to be completely unfounded. There was no immediate threat to this weekend’s events.
The safety of our students and school community will always be our top priority. We encourage students and caregivers to reach out to a trusted adult any time they hear or see suspicious behavior. We take all allegations involving safety seriously and will continue to communicate these matters in a timely and transparent manner.
Please consider taking a few moments to discuss the communication of school safety with your child. Thank you to the Berlin administrative team and the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office for their prompt handling of this matter.
The District values your support and cooperation as we continue to work together to ensure the safety and well-being of every member of our school community.
Sincerely,
Kenneth Rizzo
Superintendent of Schools
