Dear Mountaineer Families,
At Berlin Middle High School, we strive to continually strengthen our connection with families and ensure that we are meeting the diverse needs of our community. Your feedback plays an essential role in helping us make thoughtful, informed decisions for the future.
We are asking all families to please take a few minutes to complete a short survey regarding Open House and Parent-Teacher Conferences. Your input will help us evaluate how these events best serve families and determine the most effective format moving forward.
The survey should take less than two minutes to complete.
What’s the difference between the two?
- Open House provides a general overview of your child’s classes and allows families to meet teachers and learn about curriculum and expectations.
- Parent-Teacher Conferences offer an opportunity for more individualized conversations focused on your child’s specific progress, strengths, and areas of growth.

In addition, please find attached a letter from Mrs. Reynolds and Rensselaer County Department of Mental Health Commissioner Kathy Coons regarding the 2025 Prevention Needs Assessment. This survey will be administered this week to students in grades 6, 8, 10, and 12. If you don’t want your child to participate in the survey, please contact Mrs. Reynolds.
The Prevention Needs Assessment provides valuable data to schools and the county, helping us identify and prioritize areas of need related to student well-being and community support.

Finally, St. Peter’s Crime Victim Services will present lessons on Erin’s Law to all grade levels tomorrow, Tuesday, November 12th, and Thursday, November 13th.
Erin’s Law is a New York State requirement designed to educate students about personal body safety, recognizing unsafe situations, and understanding how and where to seek help if they or someone they know is being abused. Each school district in New York State is required to provide this important prevention education annually as part of our ongoing commitment to student safety and well-being.
I have attached letters from St. Peter’s Crime Victim Services with additional information—one for middle school families and one for high school families.
If you don’t want your child to participate in the presentation, please contact your child’s school counselor, Mr. Shaw or Ms. Caldwell.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership in supporting our Mountaineers. Together, we can continue to create a safe, informed, and connected school community.
