At the Berlin CSD Board of Education meeting on October 21st, the BCSD STARS Program and BCSD PTO showed their appreciation to the Board of Education members on behalf of the community before and at the start of the meeting.
School Board Recognition Week was October 13-17; however, the meeting did not fall during the appreciation week, so they waited for this meeting to honor the members.
Berlin Middle School students from the STARS program prepared a pasta dinner, setting their classroom up for the dinner and offering restaurant-style service to the BOE members. It was a thoughtful way for the students to get to know the board members and express their appreciation by helping to cook for them and by creating office calendars gifts for each board member and administrator present.
Thanks go to Mrs. Bell, Mrs. Roth, Mrs. Baker, Dr. Tergliafera, and STARS support staff for guiding the students in their cooking and presentation.
At the start of the BOE meeting, student representatives also presented a gift of appreciation to the Board of Education members on behalf of the school community, sponsored by the BCSD PTO. Board Appreciation Week was created to recognize the work of unpaid, volunteer school board members who are responsible for setting a district’s vision, overseeing its budget, and ensuring student achievement and safety.
At the start of the meeting, Superintendent Ken Rizzo also shared his gratitude for the board and recognized each board member’s years of service.
