A ‘911 Address’ is a property’s physical address, essential for emergency responders to locate you during an emergency.
Recently, Berlin CSD School Resource Officer Deputy DaLessio chatted with 2nd-grade teacher Mrs. Kneer and her students in the hallway during a class transition time, and together they realized this was an important lesson they needed to collaborate on.
Deputy DaLessio saw the need for students to have this information memorized in case of an emergency and created a lesson around it for all 2nd-grade students at BES.
After the lesson, Deputy DaLessio and the 2nd-grade team distributed an address practice sheet for the Mountaineers to work on at home with their families. Once the students have memorized their address, they will let their teacher or Deputy DaLessio know to receive a certificate marking this important achievement.
BES Principal Mrs. Cataldo was excited to observe this great example of the important collaboration that occurs daily between our Berlin CSD SRO and teaching staff to ensure the students are responsible and safe, and plans to include this into a school-wide initiative during the next Character Education Assembly.
Way to go, Mountaineers!!
