Twenty-three students from Ms. Wetmore’s Design and Drawing for Production (DDP) and Computer Science classes and Mr. Mellor’s Chemistry and Siena Chemistry classes attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s (RPI) National Manufacturing Day on Friday, October 3rd.
“It was a great day,” said Ms. Wetmore.
“The students particularly enjoyed the extracurricular electric car design club and asked a lot of insightful questions.”
Another lab that was interesting for the Mountaineers was the Forge, a student-run makerspace where they can use CAD software and 3D print their designs.
RPI has hosted this event since 2011 to highlight career opportunities in manufacturing engineering. This annual field trip has been a great opportunity for RPI staff and students to share their expertise with high school teachers and students through different stations, tours, and information sessions, with the hope of sparking an interest in manufacturing.
