Thanks to the generosity of Berlin Elementary Kindergarten parent, Mrs. Jennifer Seitz, BES will now have eleven new books that bring education and awareness of autism to our younger Mountaineers. The book donations came out of a thoughtful suggestion and discussion during a PTO chat from Mrs. Seitz and Mrs. Renee Van Keuren about how to provide a better understanding to peers of students who have Autistic Spectrum Disorders. The goal is to open a line of communication for students to learn and ask questions they may have about autism, fostering an environment of understanding and support for all students. The books will also provide context and knowledge about the Autism Awareness Spirit Week BES will be taking part in from April 7th through April 11th. The books will be displayed in the library and available for teachers to sign out throughout the month, shining a light on what Autism Awareness Month means, and will remain permanently in the BES library collection.

Berlin Elementary Principal Mrs. Jodi Cataldo would like to extend her thanks to Mrs. Seitz and Mrs. Van Keuren for their engagement, donation, and dedication to the BES Community.

Please find the list of the books  below, as well as a few more suggested YouTube read-aloud links from Mrs. Van Keuren.
