March’s character trait at BES is perseverance, the ability to keep trying and to never give up, even when things are difficult.
During the assembly the BES Character Education team demonstrated different “What would a Mountaineer do?” scenarios to show what perseverance does and does not look like. The Mountaineers had excellent suggestions on how to continue to persevere, when Mrs. Labnon stopped the scenario to ask “what would a Mountaineer do?”.
The Odyssey of the Mind team has been an excellent example of BES Mountaineers who persevere! This month they placed first in their regional competition and were the recipients of the OMER’s Award. The award is named for the Odyssey of the Mind raccoon mascot, OMER, in recognition of individuals or teams who demonstrate outstanding sportsmanship, exemplary behavior, or exceptional talent. The team faced adversity on the day of the competition but were able to pull together and still compete and excel.
The BES community is so proud of the team: Adel Derstine, Francis Maxfield, Jesse Cummings, Alaina Chittenden, Clara Church, Caraline Webster, and Rosalee Riccardi!
Good luck at States next weekend Mountaineers!! We are rooting for you!!! We are rooting for you!!!
