The Berlin High School Science Olympiad team competed twice in the last month. Once at the Columbia High School Invitational and the Capital Region Science Olympiad at Ballston Spa High School. The small but mighty team brought home a set of metals from each competition. Both metals were awarded to Lillian Von Schilgen and Charlie Young for their project on helicopters (10th at invitationals out of 36 teams and 5th at regionals out of 21 teams). The team also competed in other events like air trajectory, ecology, experimental design, entomology, astronomy, forensics, ect. Anthony deLaurentis, Mackenzie Lowell, Norah Smerdon, Nathan Goodermote, Penelope Haas and Valentina Popov all contributed to the team score to place tenth in the Capital Region. With 15 spots on the team we are always looking for more students to join. If you are interested please see Mrs. Hayes or Mr. Scannell to sign up for next year’s team!!
