We are GRATEFUL for Mrs. Kent!
Mrs. Kent has been in the field of education for 31 years, with 18 of those years in the classroom before transitioning into administration 13 years ago. Mrs. Kent has spent the last ten years as the principal of Berlin Elementary School. We thank Mrs. Kent for her dedication to the district and wish her all the best in retirement. During the assembly, the BES Mountaineers took time to express their gratitude to Mrs. Kent. The students and staff presented Mrs. Kent with a plaque featuring a photo of the Mountaineers on the front step of the elementary school and a painting with all of their fingerprints as a memento. Mrs. Kent’s family surprised her at the assembly with flowers and support as she prepares to transition to retirement. Students in grades 3-5 volunteered to create a farewell video that was shared during the assembly. Find the video linked below.
The BCSD community will miss you Mrs. Kent but we are grateful for the positive impact you have made on our Mountaineer community. Today, November 22nd is Mrs. Kent’s last day at Berlin CSD. All the best in your retirement.
November Mountaineer Merit Winners
A BES Mountaineer is responsible, safe and respectful. Merits are given out by BES staff and bus drivers to celebrate Mountaineers who demonstrate these traits. The recipients receive merits that are deposited in the Mountaineer Merit container in BES’s main hallway.
Each month, Principal Cataldo draws the names of ten (one extra this month) merit recipients (five from kindergarten to second grade and five from third to fifth grade), who receive a prize and recognition at the assemblies. Please find November’s Merit winners below.
Congratulations to November’s Mountaineer Merit Winners: Sophia Pasinello, Shawn-Kyle Gaunay, Maxwell Micheli, Emmet DeShane, Aliannah, Tomlinson, Alexander Church, Derrious McCoy, Randy Loucks, Jaxon Brennan, Emmerson Galusha, and Janiyah Devine

Our Restorative Rockstar this month is Mrs. Hannigan! Mrs. Hannigan comes to school every day with a positive attitude and kindness for all. She is always ready to fill others’ buckets and lend a hand during the school day and in our larger school community. Mrs. Hannigan has really brought restorative practices into her daily classroom routine, and has supported her students and colleagues in doing the same! Thanks for all you do for our school!
Thank you, third grade volunteers, for doing an excellent job leading the assembly in the Mountaineer Mantra!
Go Mountaineers!!
