BNL JV Boys Soccer Coach Recap 9/26
The JV Boys played a wet game at Waterford. The Fordians scored within minutes sliding a ball between the goalie and the post on a corner shot. BNL settled down and stayed tuff not allowing another goal. BNL had multiple opportunities to score but just couldn’t get one in. Luke Turetsky had a great game in goal again, turning away all other comers, Desmin Hitchcock blocked up the middle on defense and cleared the ball up to start many offensive drives to Levi Giumarra. Emmett Smerdon had a good day at midfield forcing Waterford to play around him. Top play from all 13 players kept BNL in the game with their strongest game yet. BNL Girls Modified Soccer 9/25 Coach Recap
The BNL Modified Girls Soccer team came up with another win yesterday. Kaiden Siciliano scored the first goal with an assist from Ariel Thomas in the first quarter.
Mia MacMillen scored the second goal with an assist from Kaiden Siciliano in the second quarter. Kaiden Siciliano scored the 3rd goal with an assist from Savannah Hammon, in the second quarter.
The last and 4th goal Ariel Thomas got in the net with an assist from Savannah Hammon off of a beautiful corner kick by Chloe Hart.
The entire game was a beautiful thing to watch, with an incredible game of soccer played by the entire team. The defense was flawless and they kept them at the half for the entire 2nd half of the game. I couldn’t be more proud of this group of girls. They really are riding the wave.

BNL Girls Varsity Volleyball 9/25 Coach Recap
BNL Girls Varsity Volleyball traveled to Cambridge last night and were able to avenge an early season loss in a 3 sets to 1 win 25-17, 25-22, 22-25, 25-22. Alexis Rifenburg led the team with 18 assists, 3 kills, 3 aces, and 13 service points, Holly White had 9 kills, Aarianna Degroff had 4 kills, 4 aces and 17 service points. I wanted to send a special shout out to Anna Lawless who battled through a tough match to have 6 digs. This win brings the Mountain Lions to 3-4 on the year. BNL Girls Varsity Soccer 9/25 Coach Recap
The BNL Girls Varsity Soccer team extended to a 5-4 record last night, after a well-executed away win over Cambridge. The Lady Mountain Lions came out strong in the first half and dominated possession right away. About fifteen minutes into the game, Haylee Jones played a through ball to Madison Bell who slotted home the first goal from the right wing. BNL continued to grow into the game and minutes after the second half started, Anna Hart was able to take advantage of some hectic play in the penalty box following an Alex Pierce cross to put BNL 2-0 up. Hart would add her second of the day off of a Madison Bell cross. The Lady Mountain Lions continue their season in New Lebanon’s Homecoming game this Friday at 7:00 pm at New Lebanon High under the lights! – Coach Kanofsky
BNL Modified Cross Country Coach Recap 9/24
Modified Cross Country went to Hoosic Valley to face off against Hoosic Valley and Tamarac Hoosick Falls on Tuesday, September 24th. Autumn Fredericks came in 3rd, David Ovitt came in 5th, Anthony Williams came in 7th, Braydon Griswold came in 12th, Lucy Fougere came in 13th and Jacob Bonesteel came in 16th out of a pack of 20 athletes. It was the first time we had our entire team together for a race and they did an excellent job! I am excited to see them continue to grow in their ability to persevere and push themselves to run consistently each time we race. – Coach Shaw
BNL Modified Girls Volleyball Coach Recap 9/24
The BNL Mountain Lions Modified volleyball team combined their 2 teams and defeated Waterford Halfmoon winning 2 out of 3 matches. The 3 stars of the game are Rachel Smith, with 6 service points, Mia Macchi with 7 service points and Abigail Long with 3 service points.
BNL Modified Girls Soccer vs Greenwich Coach Recap 9/23
The BNL Modified Girls Soccer Team is still finding their vibe on the field, the first quarter ended with a very competitive result with no score, it wasn’t until the 2nd quarter that the ladies found their hunger for the net Kathy Wu with her first ever goal assisted by Ariel Thomas. The 3rd quarter was a mirror of the 2nd quarter with Ariel Thomas scoring a goal assisted by Mia MacMillen. Greenwich scored in the last 2 minutes of the game leaving us with the 2-1 win of our first league game. Alexandria Franze, our Goal Keeper along with the defensive line played a stellar game of soccer, with the mids dropping and backing the forward line, this was without question a great game to watch…Even better when you’re the coach and you know it’s just the beginning of great things. All in all couldn’t be more proud of these young ladies, well done! – Coach Dodge
BNL Varsity Girls Soccer Coach Recap 9/23
Congrats to the BNL Varsity Girls Soccer team on their away win against Corinth last night 2-0. The Lady Mountain Lions extend to a 4-4 record at the midpoint of the season after Haylee Jones used a deft touch to control a Vivienne Powers cross to score the first goal in the first half. BNL continued to control possession and was able to make 2-0 after Sophia Hart headed away a Haylee Jones corner midway through the second half. Led by some key saves from keeper Emma Shorter, and some standout defending by the whole team, BNL was able to close out the game. Check out the team this Wednesday away to Cambridge, and this Friday at the Homecoming Game as BNL hosts Stillwater.
BNL Boys JV Soccer Coach Recaps 9/23
The BNL JV Boys Soccer team made the trek to Hadley Luzerne to play under the lights. Luke Turetsky made numerous stops in goal and had a strong kicking game in an attempt to get BNL’s offensive game going. Levi Giumarra made a crossing pass to Owen Mendoza who hit the back of the net for our lone goal. The defense struggled to keep a larger faster Hadley team from scoring and will face Waterford today away looking for their first win. – Coach Burhans
BNL Modified Cross Country 9/21 Coach Recap
The modified cross country team ran against several other teams at the Galway Invitational. Autumn Fredericks got 3rd place during the girls modified race (out of 29). In the boys race, Braydon Griswold took 16th, David Ovitt 22nd, and Anthony Williams 29th (out of 49). Great job team! -Coach Shaw
BNL Modified Volleyball Coach Recap 9/20
The BNL modified volleyball team had their first game of the season on Friday when they faced Hoosic Valley. Despite winning their first match 30-28 the A team started the season with a loss. Sophia Szemcsak was the high scorer with 10 service points.
The B team defeated Hoosic Valley in 2 straight matches, Mia Macchi had an impressive 23 service points, many of which were aces. Come support the girls as they take on Waterford Halfmoon today at 4:15 in Berlin

BNL Varsity Volleyball going up against an undefeated Emma Willard team BNL battled hard but fell 3 sets to 1, 19-25, 25-16, 23-25, 22-25. The Mountain Lions serving was on point tonight with Alexis Rifenburg having 15 Aces and 8 assists and Holly White adding 9 Aces and 4 Kills. What a scrappy game from a resilient team.

The Mountain Lions dominated both halves with possession, and registered over thirty shots on the Saints’ goal. Alex Pierce earned her first career varsity goal off of a Haylee Jones corner, and Anna Hart would add a goal later in the first half to take the lead to 2-0. Jones would add her own goal in the second half, along with goals from Madison Bell, another from Anna Hart, and a first career varsity goal for Lilly Gardell late in the second half. In their first varsity start in net, Charlie Young had a stellar game, making four key saves whenever the Saint’s broke through the BNL defense. The team continues their season away at Tamarac tonight at 7:00!

In 3 very close sets BNL fought hard but were unable to break through dropping 3 sets to Waterford-Halfmoon. 15-25, 22-25, 23-25. Alexis Rifenburg led the offense with 19 assists, Holly White had 11 Kills, and a huge shout out to Aarianna Degroff who in her first varsity start added 5 kills and 5 aces. BNL Boys JV Soccer vs Cambridge 9/18 Coach Recap
The BNL JV Boys Soccer team traveled to Cambridge for their second game of the week. They were sluggish in the first half and gave up multiple goals.They started the 2nd half in better spirits and adjusted to have 6 solid shots on goal. Kioi Muturi was tumbled in the box and scored on a PK. Emmett Smerdon had a great game filling multiple positions including saving the ball on the goal line 2xs. Desmin Hitchcock stepped up his game at midfield and on defense, preventing several 1 on 1 runs on the goal in the 2nd half. Ronan Whelan and Roddy Gardell came up big, stopping a pressing offense and holding Cambridge to only 7 shots on goal in the 2nd half. – Coach Burhans
BNL Modified Cross Country 9/17 Coach Recap
The modified cross country team ran their first meet at home on September 17th against Mechanicville. It was a co-ed race with Autumn Fredericks coming in 3rd, Braydon Griswold coming in 4th, David Ovitt in 5th, Anthony Williams in 6th, and Lucy Fougere in 9th. Great job everyone! BNL JV Soccer vs Coxsackie-Athens 9/16 Coach Recap
On Monday the BNL Boys JV Soccer team faced a strong Coxsackie Athens team away. Coxsackie-Athens scored early and made Luke Turetsky work hard in goal to keep BNL in the game. BNL settled in and fought hard against an aggressive and larger opponent. Levi Giumarra had several shots on goal. Kioi Muturi hustled the whole game to create space to shoot along with solid work in the midfield from Rockim Minkler and Cody Minkler and Cody Ozga. Turetsky had 17 saves in goal behind Roddy Gardell’s good play at the left defensive back position. -Coach Burhans
