Berlin CSD would like to introduce Mrs. Jodi Cataldo as the new Berlin Elementary School Principal. Mrs. Cataldo has been the BES Assistant Principal for the last two years working alongside retiring BES Principal Mrs. Tracy Kent. Mrs. Cataldo was highly recommended to fill the position, by Mrs. Kent as well as faculty and staff at the elementary school.
“Jodi has proven herself to be dependable, solution oriented, caring and invested in the students and families of our district,” shared Mrs. Kent.
Kent continued, “Jodi is a strong leader and I believe possesses the attributes and skill sets to transition into the role of principal.”
Please join us in welcoming Mrs. Cataldo into her new role and read more about it in her own words below.
What is your new position at BCSD?
I am very proud to announce that I will be the Principal at Berlin Elementary School starting this upcoming school year.
What is your education background?
From an early age I always knew that I wanted to be a teacher. After graduating High School, I attended the College of Saint Rose majoring in Elementary Education. I taught Kindergarten and 4th grade for 4 years in the Albany City School District and once I started a family, I took 10 years off to stay home with them. After returning to the classroom I taught 1st grade in Lansingburgh for 8 years. During that time I went back to school and completed my School Building/District Leadership certification at MCLA. I began my time in Berlin 2 years ago as the Assistant Principal, and now I am the Principal of BES. I will continue to pursue opportunities to learn and grow professionally throughout my time here.
What have been some of the highlights you have experienced working at Berlin CSD up to this point?
One of the main highlights of working in Berlin is participating in community events and being able to build relationships throughout these experiences. Berlin is a very special place that values hard work, friendship and family. This is evident in how the community shows support for our school district and their children.
What are some of the goals you have set for your new role in the district?
My main goal is to do whatever I can to continue the wonderful things that are already happening here at BES. I will support our students, staff and families, however possible, to promote a successful academic experience while promoting a positive and welcoming school culture.
What are your interests outside of school?
Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my family going hiking and traveling. Spending time outdoors is something I try to do as much as possible, whether it being locally or areas around the US. My kids are located all over the state, so my husband and I travel to visit them as often as we can.
Congratulations Mrs. Cataldo!
