Reading and writing are two life skills that are essential to the academic growth and success of every child. Research has shown, time and again, that the best predictor of reading achievement is the amount of time that a student spends reading. The more a child reads, the more success that a child will have. Research has also proven that ALL students, if they do not read or write over the summer, are likely to lose important reading growth. Don’t let your child slide this summer!! What can you do to help?
Summer is a time to take a break from school, but not from learning! We don’t want our students to fall victim to the “summer slide” and lose valuable reading skills they have worked so hard to gain this year! So, we ask that you help us in encouraging them to keep reading, thinking, and growing by participating in a summer reading challenge!
If you have any questions please contact: Principal Mrs. Jodi Cataldo jcataldo@berlincentral.org
Berlin Elementary is excited to partner with our local libraries for their summer reading programs as well! The library programs will honor the logs and activities students complete through the BES summer reading program packets attached below!
Check out your local Library for great summer reads and maybe even find a great book too and join the BES Mountaineers on a Summer Reading Adventure!
Please find a list of local library websites and hours near the bottom of this page.
