On May 18th, the Berlin Middle School 6th grade class visited the MiSci Museum in Schenectady NY.
Students participated in two workshops that day, Fun with Physics, and Crime Lab Investigation.
During the Physics presentation, students learned through hands-on activities about various forces that act upon us. These activities serve as an introduction to physical science which will be covered next year for them in 7th grade.
The Crime Lab Investigation assisted students in the practice of deductive reasoning. Students were given a fictitious crime scene scenario along with evidence gathered. With this information, students then needed to determine which of the suspects was the guilty party. This fun activity supports the students in forming “Claim, Evidence, Reasoning” statements which they practice in all science classes. – Mr. Scannell BMS 6th Grade Science Teacher
