Berlin Middle School Science teacher Mrs. Hunt’s 7th Grade Compression Science class has been learning about the different systems in the body. Recently during a lesson Mountaineer Addison Dezees shared that her mother, Rebecca Kiablick is a Respiratory Therapist in Vermont at SouthWestern Medical Center. Mrs. Hunt saw this as a great opportunity to bring Ms. Kiablick’s knowledge and experience into the classroom for an immersive lesson about the Respiratory Systems.
Mrs. Hunt invited Ms. Kiablick to speak with the students on Thursday, May 11th. Ms. Kiablick talked about the work she does and how it relates to the student’s current unit of study. She also brought some of the tools and instruments she uses during her treatments for students to examine.
The BMS Family and Consumer Science (FACS) class was invited to join the science class for presentation as part of a cross-curricular experience. The FACS class is currently exploring different career pathways.
Thank you Ms. Kiablick for taking time to speak with the Mountaineers.
