On May 4th, the BNL Athletics Department held a Senior Signing Day for students-athletes from the Berlin and New Lebanon School Districts who will be pursuing athletics at the collegiate level next school year.
BNL Athletic Directors Jason McFall (Berlin) and Corey Brown (New Lebanon) were excited to launch this new tradition for the merged sports program.
The goal is to highlight and celebrate the student-athletes’ hard work both in the classroom and on the fields/courts/lanes/track as well as to create pride and inspiration for the younger BNL student-athletes.
Berlin Superintendent Joseph Dhara and New Lebanon Superintendent Andrew Kourt along with coaches and administrators were in attendance to show their support.
Alex Sotek (New Lebanon), Liam Buckenroth (New Lebanon), Elsie Corbett (Berlin) and Sadie Giumarra (Berlin) signed their National Letters of Intent as families, coaches, teachers, administrators and fellow students cheered them on.
Thanks to the coaches and administrators who attended and spoke about the dedication and heart these student-athletes have brought throughout their athletic careers at both districts.
During the event Coach Jen Burhans’ spoke about the districts’ long history of Division I, II and III athletes who are now active alumni and always available to offer guidance in pursuing sports after high school. Coach Burhans suggested that students connect with their guidance offices to see how they too can pursue the dream of continuing to play sports after high school.
Congratulations Liam, Alex, Elsie, Sadie and Logan. We will be cheering you on as you light up the programs at your future schools.

Elsie Corbett: Cross Country/Track & Field – Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI)
Sadie Giumarra: Cross Country/Track & Field- College of Saint Rose
Logan Dunlop: Bowling- Hudson Valley Community College (Logan was unable to attend but will be signing at a later date)
