The New York State Council for Social Studies (NYSCSS) is an 85 year old professional organization made up of social studies educators from across NYS.
In NYSCSS’ mission statement they state their goal, which is to, “ensure that all students graduate from high school and college ready for lifelong learning, engaging careers, and active civic life”

Recently, Berlin Middle High School Social Studies teachers, Mr. Erik Viner, Mrs. Elisa Hammersmith, and Mrs. Sarah Thibeau shared their talents in the classroom with others when they attended NYSCSS’ annual conference in Albany; March 9-11th.
Mr. Viner, Mrs. Hammersmith and Mrs. Thibeau each attended different events and seminars during the day participating in a wide range of topics. Ideas and activities were shared with hundreds of teachers from around New York State. BMHS looks forward to seeing what ideas they bring back to their classrooms. BMHS is very proud to see our teaching staff representing Berlin CSD in such a positive light.
