Asa Riccardi

BES

Special Education Teachers Assistant (Leave of Absence)

What is your education background?

I have a B.A. in Sociology with a concentration in Human Services. I’m excited to share that in June I will be starting a teaching residency program through NYU to receive my MAT as a Special Education generalist.

What is your background like – previous jobs?

My background is in human services, in internships and working with college aged students with disabilities. I have also worked in retail and as a model in Albany and Manhattan.

How long have you been working in the district?

I have been working in the district for a little over a year, first at the middle school/high school and now at the elementary school.

Tell us about your family?

I grew up in Berlin with my three siblings. We are all graduates from the Berlin Central School District. Three of us still live in town, including our parents. My dad has so many connections as a lifetime resident of Berlin, that when I go someplace local I can just ask for whatever he gets to make sure I am getting the right thing!

What are your interests outside of school?

I love to spend quality time with my family and friends. I’m a huge fan of the dog park at Willow Park in Bennington and like to take my dog there to socialize. I also ride horses and will spend my time afterwards visiting all the horses in the barn.

Stephanie Miller

BES

Special Education Teachers Assistant

What is your education background?

I am a graduate of Berlin Central School District. I also have both an Associate in Arts degree as well as a Bachelor in Arts degree. I received my A.A. from HVCC and my B.A. from SUNY Fredonia near Buffalo, NY where I majored in English and minored in Theater.

What is your background like – previous jobs?

For a great deal of my job history, I worked for the Center for Disability Services. There I was trained and educated in helping students with cognitive disabilities, as well as physical disabilities. My main concentration at the CFDS was helping educate students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, both academically and with implementing and strengthening their life skills. I was also trained in both therapeutic and de-escalation practices to help in crisis situations in the classroom.

Tell us about your family?

I am married with two amazing children. I have known my husband since I was 15 years old where we both attended BCSD. We have been married 10 years this October.

What are your interests outside of school?

I love to travel and see new places! One of my favorite places to visit is Salem, MA and Ogunquit, ME. I also love photography, genealogy, gardening, the ocean and spending time with my family!

Congratulations on your new positions at BCSD!
