Thank you to the BNL Booster Club for hosting such an exciting and fun-filled Mountain Madness at BMHS all day last Saturday 1/21. Thanks goes to the many sponsors, raffle item donators, concession volunteers and staff who made this annual event such a big success. The gymnasium was filled with positive BNL spirit from 8:30 am until 7 pm. It was wonderful for both BNL Athletic Directors Mr. McFall and Mr. Brown to experience the Mountain Madness for the first time and see how BNL fans show up for their student-athletes.
“Mountain Madness was a great experience for our community.  The outpouring of love and support for our athletic teams was amazing.  We give our sincere thanks to our students, staff, families and our fantastic Booster Club.  Kristi (Culbertson BNL Booster Club President) and tons of volunteers coordinated raffles, halftime games, and food which gave the feel of a huge stadium presence.  These things make us who we are and we are so proud of the concerted efforts from all to make this a magical experience!” -Berlin CSD Athletic Director Mr. McFall
A big shout out to all the dedicated athletes who played their hearts out from BNL, Taconic Valley Basketball, the visiting schools and to the many students who came out to support them.
Congratulations to Madison Rontey who gave two stellar renditions of the National Anthem at Mountaineer Madness games! “Thank you for representing the Berlin Music Department,” Ms. Eliashuk and Mrs. Gould.

BNL Varsity Boys Mountain Madness Coach Recap

BNL Varsity Boys Defeat Heatly in Mountain Madness Finale
In a close game that wasn’t decided until the final seconds, the BNL Varsity Boys emerged victorious against the Heatly Hornets on Saturday, January 21st, winning 43-39.

It was a story of two halves, with Heatly jumping out to an early lead which they maintained behind precision shooting from beyond the arc and points off turnovers. Going into half-time, the Hornets had built a modest 22 to 17 lead. However, Coach Snyder and the BNL players together made the necessary tactical adjustments to swing momentum back in their favor. BNL outscored Heatly 10 to 6 in the 3rd quarter, cutting the deficit to just one point entering the 4th. The competitive edge stayed with BNL throughout the final quarter with BNL adding another 16 points compared to Heatly’s 11. The game remained close into the final minute, and it wasn’t until Daniel Hendricks sank two free-throw attempts with 9 seconds remaining that the BNL boys put their lead out of reach and they secured the win, 43-39.

The BNL offense was led by Chris Shorter (11pts), Gabe Hart (10pts), and Mason Stalker (9pts). Also contributing on offense was Jesse Francoeur (7pts), Daniel Hendricks (4pts), and Jason McFall Jr. (2pts). BNL dominated in the paint and soundly outperformed Heatly in offensive and defensive rebounding.

As the capstone game of BNL Booster Club’s annual “Mountain Madness” basketball event, this was a thrilling game to watch. A big thank you to the BNL Booster Club for all their hard work year round as well and a special thank you for putting this event together for the players and the community at large. -Contributed by Assistant JV & Varsity Boys Basketball Coach Moseley
