Greetings to the BNL Community.

I’d like to take a second to introduce myself.  My name is Jason McFall and I serve as the Co-Athletic Director for BNL Athletics.  I have had the opportunity to meet and greet parents, students and staff from both districts and I look forward to forging partnerships, while building a sense of pride and community for all BNL stakeholders.

I bring a wealth of athletic/teaching experience from New York City and Westchester County as a Physical Education Teacher/Coach and Athletic Director at the high school and collegiate levels. My moral compass is always and will continue to be student and community centered.  This opportunity is a blessing and will be a boon for our community.

I’ve had the luxury of supporting our BNL programs during my brief tenure here.  I see the community come out in droves to support our children and I want to say thank you because it means so much to our Student Athletes.  Part of the reasoning for being brought to our tiny slice of heaven was to help build our programs while at the same time building team and communal spirit. I am optimistic that as we learn and grow with one another, BNL Athletics will start to turn the corner.

My counterpart, Mr. Corey Brown (Co-Athletic Director/Assistant Principal from New Lebanon) and I are working on a strategic plan to build from within and we will share that with the community once our goals have been aligned. We will be in lock step to ensure that the message will be echoed to all of our stakeholders.  Meanwhile, I will ask everyone for grace and space as we experience growing pains together. We have unique challenges that our counterparts do not have.  Where some may see that as a negative, I see it as a positive, a possible rally cry for all hands on deck.

My coaching staples will be our bedrock principles for our programs:

We do not run from a fight…

Quit or I can’t is not in our vocabulary…

We do not cower when times get hard…

We are resilient…

We exude the highest levels of integrity at all times…

We love ourselves, our schools, and our community…

We are all that we’ve got, we are all that we need!

During this time I’d like for us to remain uplifting as a whole.  We may not be where we want to be, but we are far from finished.  We will continue to work through adversity and continue to do so with our heads held high.  We as a whole, will see the tenants of hard work and discipline continue to be our guiding star.  I would like to also state that the turn around that we are waiting for is right around the corner.  I do not know exactly when this will happen but I know it will happen.  I want to preach patience and give our teams/coaches/players grace and space.  Continue to build up our student athletes and coaches.  We are not as bad as what the naysayers say we are.  We define who we are, what we are and will be.  We are better together than apart. We will be great in our own right.  Winning is contextual, not always defined by the scoreboard or a win loss record.  Winning is building future leaders.  Winning is knowing how to not buckle under pressure.  Winning is using your given talents and taking risks.

In closing, to my student athletes, keep working, keep striving and continue to glow and grow.

To my staff and coaches, continue to push the envelope and develop.

To my community, continue to encourage and embrace our children and staff.

Your message has been heard loud and clear.  We need and want all of our stakeholders to share a part in history in the making.  We will rise, we will be confident in who and what we are.  Most importantly, we will do it together!  I thank you in advance and look forward to meeting my community as a whole.
