Do you (or or child) enjoy Art, but wonder how they could make a living in that field? A career in Graphic Design is the answer! On Monday, May 23rd, 50 arts-minded 8th-12th grade students were invited to participate in an in-house “field trip” zoom presentation featuring visiting artist Naomi Tenenini, Graphic/Product Designer for Teachable in NYC. Naomi showed some high school pieces they have made in the past, speaking about how skills in their art classes paved the way for work in college and now in their career as a Product Designer. Students had opportunities to ask questions about the field of graphic design, how to prepare their skills ahead of time, what the “working world” is like and information about how to develop a portfolio for employment.
No “starving artists” here! The High School Visual Arts Department is continually looking for ways to expose students to art careers, showing them how their education now is a jumping off point for a paying career later. Mrs. Colbert & Ms. DeCelle are in the process of planning a “Careers in the Arts Night” this Fall – stay tuned!
