BNL Girls Varsity Basketball vs Mechanicville 12/7

On Tuesday night the BNL Girls’ Varsity team welcomed the Mechanicville Lady Raiders. The BNL girls continued to build their program and were able to consistently score each quarter but it was not enough to stop the experience and talent on the Mechanicville team. Six out of 8 players on the BNL team found the hoop with McKenzie Krause leading the way with 9 points. Final score was 61-29.

This Saturday, the JV and Varsity girls will be attending a Tay Fisher clinic sponsored by the BNL Booster Club.

We would like to thank the Booster Club for all their hard work and continuously supporting the improvement of all of our sports programs.

BNL Wrestling vs  Coxsackie -Athens 12/7

The BNL Wrestling team started off their season 12/7  vs. Coxsackie -Athens.  We have a young and smaller wrestling team this year.  We’ll be giving up forfeits in 6 weight classes.  So team wins will be hard to come by.  Although we lost 63-12 tonight our 4 returning wrestlers performed well winning 3 and the 4th only losing by points.  And there were several notable performances among our many first time wrestlers.

Winners on the night were Angelo Capozzi with a pin in the first period while wrestling up a weight class at 189.  Jesse Cameron wrestling a heavyweight opponent 50 pounds heavier than him won with a pin in the first period.  Nick Chittenden won his JV match at 189 with a pin in the first period.

Veteran Matt Kluck lost a back and forth match 9-12 at 172 to a tough opponent. Conner Sniger at 138 did very well in his first ever match scoring several times before giving up a pin.  First timer Dan Williams at 215 was able to pick up a takedown before being pinned in the second period.  Matt Goebel at heavyweight also wrestling for his first time at JV was in control the entire match only losing in the final seconds.   BNL Wrestlers will return to the mat at Greenville Thursday evening.

BNL Varsity Boys Volleyball vs Chatham 12/6

The BNL Varsity Boys Volleyball team won their first game of the season to improve to a 1-1 record over Chatham last night. After a very back and forth first set, BNL began to set the tempo of the game with some great defensive play and clean passes and work in front of the net. After weathering a short comeback by Chatham in the second set, BNL went on to win the shutout victory in three sets. The boys look to continue their season at home against Taconic Hills this Thursday.
