This school year BCSD implemented a 1:1 device program to provide access to technology for all students, K-12. All students have been assigned a chromebook or ipad (depending on grade level).

BCSD has extended the Technology Protection Program enrollment period until November 12th.

The goal of this Technology Protection Program is to help families offset repair costs. 

We are coming to the end of October and the IT Department has already seen quite a few damages come across their desks. The department would like to give parents/guardians another opportunity to review the BCSD  protection plan below if they have not already signed up and encourage families to enroll in the program by November 12th. If you need a paper copy please let your student’s teacher know as soon as possible.

Option 1 (with protection program):

  • Protection cost is $15 per academic year.
  • Family plan; $15 for the first device, $60 maximum per family.
  • Enroll by November 12th.
  • Normal wear and tear repair is free of charge; i.e. normal malfunction of the device, batteries, charger, etc… and does not count as a claim.
  • First claim for repair – $0 deductible.
  • Each repair after the first will incur a $25 deductible.
  • If a student is enrolled in the Technology Protection Program, a take-home loaner or replacement device will be given to them immediately for the first repair, and upon payment of the deductible, for any subsequent repair. Pending the receipt of any deductible, an at-school-only device will be issued. 
  • The Technology Protection Program does not cover lost or damaged devices or chargers. 
  • Outstanding balances must be paid within 10 days, and the bill will include photos of the damage, along with a copy of the parts cost.

 

Option 2 (without protection program):

  • Normal wear and tear repair is free of charge; i.e. normal malfunction of keyboard, webcam, microphone, speakers, batteries, charger, etc…
  • If a student is NOT enrolled in the Technology Protection Program prior to receiving their device, they will be responsible for the full cost of all repairs, or full replacement cost, if the device is in need of repair.
  • Non-protected students will be issued a daily loaner device until all balances are paid. Daily loaner devices must be returned each day at the end of school and may not go home. 
  • Non-protected students must pay the full amount for damage/repair before receiving their repaired device, or a replacement device. 
  • Outstanding balances must be paid within 10 days, and the bill will include photos of the damage, along with a copy of the parts cost.
