Dear Berlin families,

We have consistently communicated to our families when someone in our district has tested positive for COVID-19. Moving forward, we are planning a change to the way this communication takes place.

Due to the highly contagious nature of the Delta variant, and the positivity rate within our community, notification of each individual case through the District’s email system is not sustainable.

Effective Thursday 9/23/2021, we will no longer send daily emails reporting positive cases. Instead, we will post a weekly summary of all positive cases on our website. This page will be updated on Friday afternoons at 3:00 p.m. The page can be found here, under the COVID Resource menu on our homepage, or linked on our COVID resource page

Please note that all individuals identified as a close contact to a positive case will continue to receive immediate and direct communication.

For a more frequent update, New York State has reopened the School COVID-19 Report Card, where positive test results will be reported daily. We are required to disclose positive test results to the state to be included in this dashboard, and we are committed to accurately reporting any positive test within our district as required by the state. (Please note that this page is currently being updated and new information is temporarily unavailable.) You can access the report card on the NYSDOH website here: https://schoolcovidreportcard.health.ny.gov/

Sincerely,
A. Joseph Dhara
Berlin Superintendent of Schools
