BNL Girls Varsity Soccer Hall of Fame Tournament Niskayuna 9/11/21

The BNL Girls Varsity Soccer team won their first game of the season with a 2-1 win over Ellicottville in the New York State High School Girls Soccer Hall of Fame Tournament in Niskayuna on Sunday. The game was competitive from the start, with both teams battling for 50-50 balls for the first twenty minutes. Ellicottville took the lead with a rifled shot into the top right corner of the net. BNL maintained composure and equalized just before halftime when Haylee Jones scored her second goal of the season on a pass from Katelyn Miller. The girls worked just as hard in the second half to control the ball, and neutralized Ellicottville’s offenses. With about twelve minutes to go, Haylee Jones notched the game winner, after Rilynn Jones brilliantly turned her defender and had a shot one on one with the keeper; after a deflection from the keeper’s hands, Haylee was there to slot away the rebound. BNL looks to continue its competitive season on Tuesday, when they travel to Mechanicville under the lights at 7:00.

BNL Cross Country Black Bird Invitational 9/11/21

The Berlin-New Lebanon Varsity XC team had an eventful Saturday at the Black Bird Invitational this weekend! Our teams were entered to run against 30 other schools in a Girls Varsity and Boys Varsity 5k race. As well as a Freshman Girl’s 1.5 mile race.

After a minor setback from a bee attack on the warmup course, our runners came in strong! First up was our freshman girl’s race. Addison Powell crossed the finish line with an 11:45 in the 1.5 mile course. She even crushed her mile time by 2 minutes!

Next up was the Girls Varsity 5K race. Together, our BNL girls scored 2nd place at the invitational! Quick spotlight on our juniors this year for showing some incredible drive for a winning season. Elsie Corbett placed 6th with a 21:49 and Sadie Giumarra placed 14th with a 22:45.

Just as equally driven, our Boys Varsity stepped up to the plate in the next 5k race. Senior runner this year, Carl Truax ran a 27:41. Also, we are super excited to welcome our newly joined runner, Gabe Kalisz, who placed 34th with a 21:23 in his first race. Our boys are ready for a great season and we are so excited to continue updating you all with great news! Go BNL!

BNL JV Boys Soccer vs Mechanicville 9/9/21

The BNL Boys JV Soccer team opened at Mechanicville with a 0-7 loss. BNL played a steady game in the midfield but were unable to capitalize on several offensive attacks. Kristjon Culbertson racked up 15 saves including several one on one stops. The boys are home on Monday.

BNL Varsity Boys Soccer vs Mechanicville 9/921

Mechanicville 10 Berlin/New Lebanon 2: The Red Raiders raced out to a 6-0 halftime advantage and cruised from there, posting the “W” under the lights in Mechanicville on Thursday. Five Raiders accounted for all ten Mechanicville goals with the quintet of Andrew Kraszewski, Wyqie Aguda, Colin McNutt, Jacob Eiseman and Tommy Wendel all finishing with a pair of scoring strikes. Danny Hunt and Gabe Hart got Berlin/New Lebanon on the board with second half scores. Mechanicville keeper Dylan Raucci saved three shots for the Raiders while Mountaineer keeper Kevin Chittenden turned back 20 shots in defeat.

The BNL Booster Club still needs adult volunteers for Saturday 9/18 & a crockpot of Taco meat for Friday 9/17.

COVID Testing Information

Athletic COVID testing schedule for the week of 9/13:

Monday 9/13 – Modified and JV Girls Volleyball

Tuesday 9/14 – Varsity Girls Volleyball

Testing begins at 7:30 am and no one will be able to test after 7:55 am.
