Though this was a challenging year to get sports up and running from the start of the school year our Mountaineers persevered. Leading the efforts were the low-risk BNL Swim Team and Berlin Bowling Team. Both teams were able to compete amid the COVID restrictions thanks to great planning and the nature of their sports not needing the competitors to be in the same location.
Congratulations to both teams for their excellent seasons.
In February, the decision to begin high-risk winter sports as intramurals was made possible through close collaboration between the student-athletes, coaches, BCSD Board of Education, Superintendent Mr. Dhara, Athletic Director Mr. Paravella, BCSD COVID Coordinator Michele Corsey, and the district’s medical directors. The student-athlete’s safety and well-being were at the forefront throughout the process.
In late February, the Berlin teams that were able to work on skills, practice and play in an intramural setting were Varsity Girls’ and Boys’ Basketball, Cheerleading and Wrestling.
These teams laid the groundwork for the Fall 1 and Fall 2 seasons that followed.
Below are the rosters from the BNL Varsity Fall 1 and Fall 2 teams as well as acknowledgments from some of the intramural teams and photos the coaches shared.
Congratulations to the BNL Sports Program!
Thank you to Superintendents Mr. Dhara (Berlin) and Mr. Kourt (New Lebanon); to Athletic Directors Mr. Paravella (Berlin) and Ms. Luce (New Lebanon); to Candy Curtis, BMHS Senior Typist, and to the BNL Booster Club for their efforts in making the seasons a success.
BNL Athletics is looking forward to a great season in the 2021-22 school year. Please make sure your student signs up for Fall Sports and arranges a physical so they can participate. Find more information on the BCSD Athletics page
