Students will complete the 24 hours of in-vehicle instruction under the supervision of a parent/guardian holding a valid NY State Driver’s License. Upon completion of this instruction, the parent/guardian must document and attest that the student has received the 24 hours of combined in-vehicle instruction, observation and applied practice.

 

In order to obtain your MV-285 you will need to fulfill all of the following requirements, which are based on contact hours.  

  1. There needs to be a minimum of 6 hours (360 minutes minimum) behind the wheel and 18 hours (of observation 1,080 minutes minimum)
  2. All observed and behind the wheel time must be documented and initialed by the parent/guardian
  3. The skills and activities portion must be documented and initialed by the parent/guardian
  4. All documents must be submitted to the main office upon completion of the course
