Students will complete the 24 hours of in-vehicle instruction under the supervision of a parent/guardian holding a valid NY State Driver’s License. Upon completion of this instruction, the parent/guardian must document and attest that the student has received the 24 hours of combined in-vehicle instruction, observation and applied practice.
In order to obtain your MV-285 you will need to fulfill all of the following requirements, which are based on contact hours.
- There needs to be a minimum of 6 hours (360 minutes minimum) behind the wheel and 18 hours (of observation 1,080 minutes minimum)
- All observed and behind the wheel time must be documented and initialed by the parent/guardian
- The skills and activities portion must be documented and initialed by the parent/guardian
- All documents must be submitted to the main office upon completion of the course
