Berlin Middle/High School Librarian Rebecca Jones was inspired by a teacher who posted a project on Tiktok of a periodic table for Black History Month. She has created a similar table at BMHS featuring different figures from Black History in politics, science, the arts and beyond, with each figure represented as an element on the table.
“Once I saw it, I knew I wanted to make a version for Berlin! Since it has gone up, I have heard students commenting to me and each other on different initials and individuals they’ve noticed. I did this hoping students could have a fun day-to-day way to learn about and recognize people from both past and more recent Black History, as well as what they have done to influence our lives today,” Ms. Jones said.
