Mr. Charles Paravella

The Berlin Central School District welcomes Charles Paravella to its Administrative Team. Mr. Paravella joins the Berlin Middle/High School as Assistant Principal and Athletic Director. Mr. Paravella is looking forward to starting 2021 off in his new roles at BMHS. Learn more about Mr. Paravella in his own words.

I received my BA (Liberal Studies) and MA (Teaching Social Studies) from SUNY Stony Brook. I also have a School Building Leader Certification from SUNY Albany.

I’ve worked for essentially my entire career (22 years) at the Capital Region Career and Technical School in Albany, NY. There, I taught in the Alternative Education Program, and then in the New Visions Medical Program.

I entered the Administration about five years ago and was most recently Assistant Principal.

My other significant work experience has been as Camp Director for Easter Seals Camp Colonie for 15 years. This is a summer school/camp for kids with and without disabilities. Students with a year round Individualized Education Program (IEP) are able to meet those goals in the context of a camp setting.

I have been married for 24 years, and we have two daughters, ages 21 and 17. Although I’m originally from Long Island, we are longtime residents of Troy. I’ve loved being involved in activities with my kids growing up. Soccer has been a year-round activity for all of us for a long time.

My long-term interest has been coaching my daughters in soccer and basketball. In recent years, we’ve all expanded our interests and greatly enjoy hiking in the High Peaks/Lake George area.

I like to paddleboard, run a bit, and do various other outdoor activities. Tough to beat this area when it comes to things to do.

As it gets warmer, I like to go to the racetrack, to SPAC, baseball games, or just sit on my porch and read. I’ve always got a book of some sort going.

Welcome to BCSD Mr. Paravella!
