Modified Girls Volleyball
After a week without competing, girls modified volleyball faced Waterford at home last night. Although we didn’t win the match, our incredible progress since the beginning of the season was on full display. In the first set, we came back from a more than 12 point deficit to come within 4 points. We won our second set and just missed our third. This was some of our best volleying so far! Success isn’t always measured in wins and losses.

Modified Girls Volleyball
Girls modified volleyball took on Cambridge Friday night.  After waiting 45 minutes for a very late Cambridge team, we came up just a little bit short.  However, we’re still doing great things with only 3 games left in the season.  Aliza Beaudry and Alana Zuke have almost perfected those serves.  Alaina Lafond and Sarah Roy, team captain, were on fire as libero.  Marissa Yerdon and Alexis Rifenburg turned on the offensive beast mode.  Not to be forgotten and always working hard are Jasmine Gates, Rebecca Smith and Destiny Wagner.

Modified Boys Soccer
The Berlin/New Lebanon boys modified Soccer team couldn’t hold off Mechanicville Friday night. With a scoreless first half Mechanicville found the back of the net twice in the second half. All players on the team fought hard. Player of the game was Kaleb Sweener with 20 saves in goal.

JV Girls Volleyball
Great job to the JV Volleyball team on their excellent playing against Mechanicville last night. Although we lost (only by 4 points) the team played with heart & soul. Bri Reger, Taylor Bears & Riley Smith played the net well, sending tricky shots & spikes over to the opposing team. Excellent plays were set up by excellent passes from Brooke Lockett & Kayla Purdy. Jaelyn Goodermote, Caylee Garrity & Cloey Purdy set our hitters up for success & Sierra Pettibone’s serving was on fire as always. We are proud to call you Mountaineers!

Modified Girls Soccer
All of the hard work, all of the laps & burpees & drills paid off yesterday as the girls modified soccer team defeated New Lebanon 5-1. The team was led by Makenzie Krause who scored 2 goals followed by Katie Miller with a pair & another by Josephine Cummings. Like a well oiled machine the entire bench passed with purpose, held their formation, dominated possession & played their hearts out!

The Cross Country team competed at League Championships and both teams continued to show why they are a threat for Sectionals. The modifieds set the bar as Aidan Van Dyke finished 2nd overall setting a new personal record in a time of 12:46 while Layne Chaykowski-Jewett fought off a cramp and finished 10th and Jayli Capasso, the legion of one, finished 14th amongst a packed group of modified girls.

Elsie Corbett led the way finishing 9th while being a Wasaren League All-Star for the second straight year. Hailey Beckwith found her old self, Brady Hills kicked hard at the finish, Sam Rokjer said no to letting up, and Ariana Hendricks fought through the pain to shatter her previous best. The girls finished 3rd overall but made it close with class B school Emma Willard. The boys were victorious and took home the Wasaren League Championship Title. They ran together and finished tight with the top 4 boys finishing within 8 places of each other. Collin Douglas led the way finishing 2nd and earning another Wasaren League All-Star. He was followed by fellow All-Stars Matt Kluck, Michael Loughlin who bested his personal record by one minute and Jack Flowers. Dan Hendricks had the gutsiest run of the day has he fought off fatigue and 3 opponents to cap off an amazing race and a new personal record to help the team claim first. Brandon Rifenburg had a phenomenal finish and just missed breaking 20 minutes while Phil Oakes was able to shave off 2 mins from his previous best. The team begins to taper and prepare for Sectionals which is next Friday.
