Berlin Elementary’s 4th grade took a field trip to the Bennington Battlefield on June 19. The students learned about the lives of the soldiers who fought in the legendary battle. Some of the many hands on opportunities included seeing what the soldiers ate and how their meals were prepared. Students were also taught marching routines and were shown the style of weaponry used in the battles. Excerpts were read from journals written by soldiers during the battles, offering the students a primary source with the soldier’s perspective.
Thank you to Mrs. Kneer, Mrs. Laz, Mrs. Ruebel, and Mr. Moseley for planning the field trip to the historic site which offered so many great hands on experiences.
