Berlin MS/HS sent two teams to the Odyssey of the Mind competition this past weekend. Sara Roth led a team of grade 7 and 8 students who addressed Problem 3 and created a mockumentary on Charlotte’s Web.
Sarah Thibeau led a team of grade 6, 7 and 8 students who tackled Problem 5 by creating an intergalactic hangout space.
Odyssey of the Mind Problem 3 was titled: Classics… Mockumentary! Seriously? Students addressing this problem had to recount a classic story and present different characters from a new perspective. Students were to use interviews, behind-the-scenes clips and voice-overs that take the audience through the story and help present events from an alternate perspective.
Problem 5, titled a Stellar Hangout, tasked students with creating an intergalactic hangout where creatures from across the university stop to eat, refuel and relax. Teams had to create a humorous performance centered in the intergalactic hangout which includes original creatures, foods and a search for space treasure. The space had to include a worker, entertainment and a map of the hangout.
The regional competition was hosted by Rensselaer City School District and Coordinated by Questar III BOCES.
