Berlin Elementary Welcomes Courtney Bersaw

Berlin CSD is excited to welcome Courtney Bersaw to the district.  Learn more about our new teacher in her own words.

Hi my name is Courtney Bersaw! I am working as a second grade special education teacher at Berlin Elementary School. One of my favorite things about working for Berlin so far is the loving community.

I knew from a young age I wanted to be a teacher. I studied childhood education (1-6) with a concentration in math and a minor in studio art at SUNY Plattsburgh. Then, I completed my master’s degree in special education (1-6) at UAlbany.

After I finished school I worked at Brighter Choice Charter School for Boys, teaching second grade for 4 years. Then, I taught at Carroll Hill Elementary School in Troy for 1 year. All of these experiences  helped guide me into the teacher I am today.

Outside of school I enjoy hiking, kayaking, and spending time with my family. I am currently working on completing the fire tower challenge, 46 high peaks, and the Saranac 6ers! Over the summer I completed the Tupper Triad challenge with my sister!

My family is very important to me. I have two brothers and a sister. This year I recently got married to my loving husband Matthew. He is also a teacher in Bennington, Vermont.

I am excited and looking forward to a great school year at Berlin Elementary
