On February 27th, some Berlin residents and their children presented to all the fourth grade classes their findings from an historical research project they did – literally – at home.  Danielle and Paul Miller, with their sons Paulie and Cash, were researching some of the interesting aspects of their recently purchased Berlin home (secret doors and hidden rooms).  What their research found tied their home to a critically important time in American History – The Underground Railroad!  Though much of their research remains speculative due to the fact that not many records remain from that era, there is enough evidence to illustrate that, in fact, the Underground Railroad ran right through our community!  In celebration of Black History Month, the family was kind enough to donate their time to the fourth grade classes at Berlin Elementary School, where they shared their research, complete with photos and what little historical evidence remained.  The BES Principal and staff thank the Millers for their time, effort and caring!
