What is your education background?

I received my Secondary Education degree with a concentration in English from SUNY New Paltz. After that, I attended SUNY Albany where I earned a Master’s of Science in Literacy. Recently I completed the requirements for an Advanced Graduate Certificate in Educational Administration, for School Building Leader (SBL) as well as School District Leader (SDL).

What is your background like – previous jobs?

I have held a variety of positions in public education. I taught English at Ichabod Crane and Cairo-Durham. Then I worked at Questar III BOCES in the Regional School Support Center. I traveled to school districts across New York State and helped them understand data, review instructional practices, and develop and implement improvement plans. I have also been a principal at all levels, K-12. These positions have given me a lot of experience with data, curriculum and instruction.

I live in Chatham with my wife and we have three sons (ages 20, 11 and 7). The oldest is currently enrolled at SUNY Albany.

What are your interests outside of school?

I am very fitness-oriented and enjoy staying active. I have participated in a few Tough Mudder races that involve mountain obstacle courses. I enjoy hiking and I am working toward becoming a “46er” by climbing all 46 major peaks in the Adirondack Mountains. I also enjoy reading and we use our dining room as a “reading room.”
