Matt McElligott, author and illustrator of many books for children including the Mad Scientist Academy series, Even Monsters Need Haircuts, Backbeard the Pirate, and the Benjamin Franklinstein series visited BES to speak to students about his writing and illustrating processes.
Throughout the day, McElligott talked to students about the process of writing and illustrating, allowing them to help him create and name a new character. McElligott demonstrated how he uses computer graphics to create new illustrations and projected them on a screen. The students were able to ask questions about the process. McElligott’s visit was part of the March into Reading month at BES. Students celebrated the joys of reading all month. See more photos.
