Students race gravity-driven cars on a floor track

Students compete in races with gravity-driven cars.

Earlier this month, the Middle School Science Bowl team competed at the General Electric Global Research Center in Niskayuna. In the first round of the gravity-driven race car competition, they won 5 out of 5 races! The team performed well in the question and answer section—covering topics in life science, physical science, energy and math—though in the end they fell short of a win.

Overall, the students said it was a great experience to compete against many schools in the Capital Region. Holly and Kasey, two second-year veterans, said they can’t wait to join the high school team next year!

The Middle School Science Bowl team is looking for recruits for next year’s team, so please contact Mr. Scannell or Ms. Oligny if your child is interested!
