The cross country teams competed in their first league meet at Greenwich Tuesday. The entire varsity team saw improvements from Saturday’s invy. The boys defeated Greenwich 24-33 led by Collin Douglas who finished 2nd in 17:25. Michael Loughlin ran possessed finishing 5th in 18:33 and Malachi Ritter began to show what he is capable of as he finished 9th in 20:47. The girls were defeated by powerhouse Greenwich and Emma Willard but showed why they are a threat for the section 2 crown. Elsie Corbett led the pack in 9th finishing in 19:36. The newest edition to the fam, Sadie Giumarra was impressive in only her second xc race and Hailey Beckwith was determined to get back into form. The mods had their first race of the year at Greenwich and Aidan Van Dyk led all mods with a time of 10:14. Layne Chaykowski-Jewett ran with determination down the stretch to finish in 11:30 and Jayill Capasso capped off her first mod race in just over 12 mins.

Our Berlin-New Lebanon men’s soccer team took to the field yesterday like a marauding squad of coyotes and took on the young men of Argyle in a match of strength, determination and guile.  This young group of coyotes stalked their prey with stealth and attacked when they saw the opportunity, scoring 5 goals. The leaders of this pack of howling coyotes were Kasey Billert, and Cody Hunt.  They had a lot of support around the 18, from Dylan Lambert and Danny Hunt. It was a total team effort with team leading scorer Kasey knocking in two goals and Cody and Danny both putting one away each. Malik Plouffe was lights out in the goal as he recorded a shut out before he was pulled with 15 minutes left and the lead comfortably secured. The whole team showed outstanding effort. Conner Voltra was superb playing multiple positions on the field and nobody can question the work ethic of Josh Zlotnick.
