Stop the Bleed FlyerRecently, Berlin faculty and employees attendee a “Stop the Bleed” Training.

The Rensselaer County Medical Reserve Corps received a 2018-2019 grant to provide the nationwide “Stop the Bleed” training program to county school districts. In Active Shooter situations, medical professionals are not allowed on scene to treat victims until the shooting threat has been neutralized. This delay has led to the needless deaths of many from blood loss. The more bystanders can be trained to act quickly and effectively, the more lives will be saved. Although driven by school shooting incidents, the “Stop the Bleed” training is also effective in treating life-threatening blood loss from a whole host of other causes, i.e. commercial kitchen accidents, power tool and equipment injuries, motor vehicle accidents, etc.
