Photographer’s Forum magazine received nearly 13,000 entries from the U.S., Canada and around the world. The magazine’s Photo Editor, Nell Campbell, selected Madsen’s photo, “Wolf,” as one of the 823 finalists to be published in this year’s edition.

“I’m excited about becoming a finalist in the contest because I entered along with 13,000 other photographers,” said Madsen. “Amazingly, I was selected and I am very proud of my work.”

Madsen said she finds joy in telling stories, and she tells these stories through pictures.

“Photojournalism has opened a whole new world to me,” she said. “It’s super fun, interesting and makes you think things
like, ‘How did that truck get up there? Who spray painted it?’ Then you get to use your imagination and finish the story.”

Christina Wallace, an Art educator at Berlin CSD, hopes to purchase copies of the book to keep in her classroom.
