Students introduced shark eggs into the Berlin High School library fish tanks!  As part of the Marine Biology curriculum, students will now observe and make observations about the development of elasmobranchs (or sharks and rays) as the fish hatch and grow.

The students are going to create a photo journal to track the development of two chain catsharks (S. retifer) and one “little” skate (L. erinacea), which is a type of ray.

Shark egg cases

The baby catsharks are clearly visible inside the egg cases.
